General Description: The Technical Director (TD) is responsible for managing all technical aspects of a show are carried out in a timely and effective manner. The TD will manage 4-7 mainstage shows per season as well as serving as TD for the production team for the Cincinnati Fringe Festival.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Coordinate with the Production Manager and team to clarify needs and determine technical equipment needs, support personnel needs, and timetables necessary to build each show.
•Coordinate with the Production Manager the set build, lighting hang and sound install for each show.
•Responsible for all aspects of set construction including interpreting design and translating to mechanical drawings; ordering construction supplies; scheduling work hours for interns, performers, etc.
•Maintaining an organized and safe shop space by planning space utilization and ensuring the safe/secure storage of sets and supplies.
•Overseeing any necessary equipment maintenance/set maintenance during the run of the show.
•Supervising the setup of all technical systems and house equipment, including lighting systems, sound systems, rigging, and related controls. •Working with Stage Manager and crew as rehearsals progress to be sure scene changes are carried out smoothly and safely.
•Working with the Stage Manager to make sure all technical equipment and systems operate effectively during the show.
•Planning and organizing set strikes and return or storage of all technical equipment.
•Assisting the Operational Director with maintenance/management of theatre, scene shop/rehearsal space, and housing facility.
•Assist in the management of the technical aspects of Underground operations for any performances including concerts, performances, and special events.
•Serve as show crew when required.
•Assist the company with maintenance and improvement of facilities as needed including but not limited to: cleaning repairs, organization, etc.
Secondary Responsibilities:
•Assist with management of bar operation and house management as needed.
•Maintain a positive attitude at all times and assist the company in maintaining the same.
Qualifications/Skills:
•Bachelors Degree in Technical Theatre preferred.
•Drafting skills preferred, CAD, Vector Works or the like.
•General Computer skills required.
•Time and project management.
•Ability to work independently of direct supervision.
